Rapamycin (sirolimus) is an immunosuppressant and mTOR inhibitor used to prevent organ transplant rejection and treat certain rare lung diseases.

Sirolimus binds to FKBP12 and inhibits mTOR, suppressing T-cell proliferation. Used in kidney transplants and lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). Side effects include hyperlipidemia, thrombocytopenia, increased infection risk, mouth sores, and delayed wound healing.
